To truly experience a place, do as the locals do, live as the locals live and eat what the locals eat.
That's where I come in.

I am your foodie. Some people like me to come and host a West Coast dinner party for them in their homes or vacation rentals, others want to learn how to cook with me in their kitchens, some just want me to develop recipes for their restaurants or cookbooks and others want me to assist them with events or charities. I enjoy doing all of these things so reach out and let's chat.
about the food...
The perfect bite is a moment in which time stands still, a moment that creates a memory that will stick with you and keep you in the present. That moment starts with the best ingredients. And boy do we have access to some amazing ingredients here in the West Coast.
The seafood....oh the seafood how I live for it!
With fishing towns all around me, I am able to get my hands on the freshest sustainable seafood every day. Mussels that were picked that very morning, live abalone straight from the farm, the juiciest oysters, whole fish fresh from the ocean, the sweetest crayfish and bokkoms from their motherland - Bokkomlaan. I do enjoy cooking all kinds of meat but I will always have a soft spot for the sea critters.
Not to mention the produce…
I like to deal with farms directly as far as I possibly can. Getting fresh fruit and veggies straight from the source makes a tremendous difference in quality. On that note, I always stick with what is in season because a mango in July is a completely different fruit from a mango in December.
Let’s not forget the wine….never forget the wine
There are currently around 560 wineries in the Western Cape which means I have an immense variety to choose from when pairing.
So what kind of food can we expect from you Didi?
West Coast food is a grateful celebration of the sea and land around us. I strive to respect the ingredients and simply give them a complimenting choir as they sing. My aim is to bring you a meal that is hearty yet refined, traditional yet exciting, beautiful, honest, flavourful and always delicious.

about the foodie
Well hello there website visitor. It's nice to have you, My name is Didi Stols.

You may know me from Masterchef South Africa or from an event you attended, it could be that you just saw my name and wondered "who dis?". So let me tell you.
I love to cook! Seriously. I LOVE to cook. I dream recipes every night and think about food all day long. All I want to do is spread the joy of food.
​
This passion has given me some amazing opportunities and a very specific set of skills, I have cooked under some of the country's greatest chefs, I have developed recipes for various restaurants and helped, cook, style and compose three cookbooks.
​
In my previous life as an art auctioneer, I travelled to over 35 countries where I got to experience cuisines all around the world. I am inspired by places and people from everywhere but none so much as the West Coast of South Africa where I live.
